Hakuna matata, what a wonderful phrase!

It means “no worries”, but as Christians is that ok? If we are not phased by anything is that a problem? Jesus tells us not to worry time and time again, but surely having no worries at all is a bad thing right? I don’t know about you but knowing about the cyclones going on and the famines in Africa and the sex trafficking that is happening in our world gets me really upset! Yet as much as it frustrates me and I worry about it, I have to keep reminding myself of the words of Isaiah

“…Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour” (Isaiah 43:1-3)

Things happen around us that give us absolute cause for alarm and concern, but I believe that when God tells us not to worry, He is not telling us to be ignorant, but rather that we need to know God has it under control! Let our action then stem from that knowledge.
